Founded in 1833 by John Alves Arbuthnot and Alfred Latham, the firm began as a merchant bank and has evolved into a specialist private and commercial bank. It is the principal operating subsidiary of Arbuthnot Banking Group and moved its London headquarters to 20 Finsbury Circus in 2024.
