Founded in 1990 and headquartered in New York, Apollo is a global alternative asset manager with three main businesses: Asset Management, Retirement Services and Principal Investing. Through Athene, its retirement-services platform, Apollo also provides retirement savings products and institutional retirement solutions.

Apollo invests across the risk-return spectrum, from investment-grade and private credit to private equity and other equity strategies. Its platform is particularly differentiated by its ability to provide financing and investment solutions across a company’s capital structure, rather than operating only as a traditional buyout fund.

The firm is especially strong in credit and complex, capital-intensive transactions. As of June 30, 2026, credit represented $849 billion of AUM, while Apollo’s equity platform had $198 billion of AUM and more than 300 portfolio companies since inception.
