Aon's growth began in 1982, when Ryan Insurance Group merged with Combined International Corporation. The company now has its global operational headquarters in London and operates through a network spanning more than 120 countries.

Aon advises organisations across two main areas: Risk Capital, including commercial insurance broking, reinsurance, risk management and analytics; and Human Capital, including health and benefits, pensions, investments, talent and rewards.
