Highlights
About The Allstate Corporation
Founded on April 17, 1931, as a Sears business, Allstate began with mail-order auto insurance. Sears partially sold down its ownership through Allstate’s 1993 IPO, and spun off its remaining shares in 1995, making Allstate fully independent.
Allstate provides personal and commercial insurance and related protection products, including auto, homeowners, renters, life, identity protection, roadside assistance and vehicle-care services. Its brands and businesses also include Arity, a mobility-data and analytics company, and National General, which distributes insurance through independent agents.
The company is especially strong in U.S. personal property-and-casualty insurance, particularly auto and homeowners coverage. Its current strategy combines a large distribution network with digital products and data-driven underwriting, including ASC auto and homeowners products rolled out across 43 and 31 states, respectively, in 2025.
