AJ Bell was founded in Manchester in 1995 by Andy Bell and Nicholas Littlefair, initially providing actuarial, trustee and pension-administration services. It later launched online SIPP and advised-platform offerings, building into a FTSE 250 investment-platform group.

Today, AJ Bell operates direct-to-consumer and advised platforms covering SIPPs, ISAs, dealing accounts and general investment accounts, alongside investment solutions and custody services. Its core strength is combining a scalable online platform with broad access to UK retail investors and financial advisers.

For the year ended 30 September 2025, the group reported £108.2 billion in assets under administration, 657,000 retail customers and £317.8 million in revenue. Platform assets under administration exceeded £100 billion, supported by strong growth in both its advised and direct-to-consumer channels.
