About ABN AMRO
ABN AMRO is headquartered in Amsterdam and traces its banking roots back roughly 200 years. The current bank was created in 2010 when the Dutch State-owned activities of ABN AMRO were separated and combined with Fortis Bank Nederland. The group remains primarily Netherlands-focused, with selected international businesses across Northwest Europe and global financial markets.
The bank serves retail customers, entrepreneurs, corporates, wealthy individuals and institutional clients. Its activities include Dutch retail banking, mortgages and deposits; corporate and private banking; wealth management; clearing; asset servicing; commercial finance; leasing; and specialised energy, commodities and transportation finance.
ABN AMRO is particularly strong in Dutch retail banking and wealth management, where it describes itself as a market leader, and in clearing, where it is building on a top-three position. Its current strategy also emphasises financing European transitions in areas such as renewable energy, mobility and digitalisation.
