About 17Capital

Founded in 2008, 17Capital pioneered financing secured against the net asset value of private-equity portfolios. In 2022, Oaktree acquired a majority interest; 17Capital continues to operate as an independent business within the Oaktree family.

The firm has two core platforms: Credit, which provides NAV loans to buyout funds, and Strategic Lending, which provides flexible, non-dilutive capital to private-equity management companies, investors and other portfolio holders. Solutions include NAV-based loans and preferred-equity-style financing.

Its main strength is specialization: 17Capital focuses narrowly on NAV finance, with a track record spanning fund-level lending, GP financing and LP financing. The firm lists offices in London, New York and Dubai, rather than Munich.
